Speakers-corner.uk is not related to the speakers’ corners across the UK. It is a digital social networking site aimed towards civil discourse and open debate on topics in the UK. We value free speech but there has to be a line between what is legal and illegal. Discussion or posts that are specifically aimed at causing continued offence and harassment towards the community maybe blocked or removed. We don’t want to ban or block anyone’s freedom of expression and we have tried to produce community guidelines that are fair and reasonable. The mastodon framework provides you with the tools to filter mute and block users or content you find offensive. Please ensure you use those tools if you are easily offended. Please review the below terms and conditions and ensure you are happy to abide by them before entering this instance.

Speakers-Corner is very much in beta state and is subject to change at any time. It is my our experiment into finding a future solution to the problem of allowing big corporations to manage and dictate an individual’s right to expression. It is my belief that damage is done by having a mindset of absolutes. I therefore believe there needs to be certain lines in civil discourse. But that is my own working theory and it might change based on the interactions I have with other system administrators and users on this platform.
